It works, you download and play it, no tweaking involved. If you're asking about dance mats it depends on a type. Mine PC-native and connected via usb so it just works, psx->usb adapters should work fine as long as they offer switch to button-mode with some key combination, psx->lpt adapters are tricky but it might have changed - I haven't used them for over a year but I've got them to work (I was using Gentoo back then).

Ahh ok... THe program tells me that you need to have Direct Rendering enabled which dosen't seem to be. I think its because im using the default drivers that came with UBUNTU but the truth is i'm terrified to try and update them. Last time I attempted it and any time I ever mess with the X config I always end up trashing the thing and having to start from scratch.

pyDance is a nice alternative written in python if you lack the 3D acceleration capabilities that Stepmania requires.

Ok, running Breezy with a fully updated system and updated video drivers. In the past I have never had an issue running stepmania on my system.
When 3.9 final came out a while ago I pulled the source and did a compile and now all that I can get the program to do is spit out "Segmentation Fault" on the command line. Anyone had this happen to them?
I tried going back to rc4 and rc3 but no luck.
During the configure part of the compile there are no errors reported that look like they should affect anything and make and make install run with no problem at all.

Thanks in advance

I'm on AMD64 and I can't get Stepmania to compile. I'm using Ubuntu 5.10. I tried both the binary download as well as the source code. I even tried the CVS code. The binary complains about some missing shared library. I'll post an error message when I get back home.
