Reinstall on Mini 9, F5/F6 key beeps when trying to change boot options?

Sorry for the newb question, I tried searching the forums first :)

I'm reinstalling UBUNTU from the disk that came with the mini, but when I can't change the boot order from the setup utility. The function keys just beep and do nothing.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
