No Sound Online - 8.10

I am using Ubuntu 8.10 and I have sound for music on the desktop and stuff, but I don't have any sound online! I've tried a bunch of sound fixes via a quick search on Google, but nothing has worked. Can someone please help me get sound working correctly? I have a CREATIVE emu10k1 sound card. Thanks!!

I followed all of those steps for 8.10, and still no luck :( Anyone have any more suggestions?
