Hello all, I've spent the last few weeks trying to get a friend's powerbook fully functional with linux, replacing the original OS. My search ended recently with jaunty- both KDE 4.2 and Gnome run awesome in jaunty with this laptop, much better than debian, opensuse, yellowdog, and fedora.

There's only a few issues and i've tried everything I could find online to address them without any success:

--I'd like to get the multi tap (two finger right click) and trackpad scrolling functions to work, however nothing I add to xorg.conf seems to have any effect on these behaviors- i'm at a loss what else to try.

--Mouseemu is set for ctrl/right click, but this functionality isn't working either and i'm not sure how to go about fixing it.

--Firefox: sites like youtube say the flash plugin is required, even when gnash or swfdec are installed (about:plugins shows them as well). I haven't had any problems with this until now (getting them to actually playback video has been a different issue). I've been trying them one at a time...

--Some colors on KDE are inverted, primarily plasma items. this guy posted a lovely SCREENSHOT (http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=67290). Opensuse with KDE 4.1 also did it.

The powerbook is a 15" 1.33, with an extra gig of ram.

thanks in advance for any help!

Well you might be better off booting 8.04

i just got my dual boot working today on a PowerBook G4 15' 1.5Ghz and 8.04 runs excellent, also newer versions can for PPC are getting less buggy and easier to use. Im sorry i can't help with the Multi touch aspect.

I believe I have the same Ibook as you are working on. I have been running Ubuntu since 6.06. I have not found the solution to any of the problems you are looking to solve. I just figure I have an old piece of equipment and am glad to get it to do most stuff. If I want a better experience in Ubuntu I have to use my other computer. By the way 8.10 is running well on my unit It just doesen't have late model flash support.

I am running Ubuntu 8.04 on a Macbook fine, but I don't know if that makes a huge difference because of the PowerPC vs. Intel architecture.

Flash doesn't work? Is that universal throughout all of your browsers?
