I am looking for an Ubuntu 8.04 .ISO image with only the basics pre-installed... Like Firefox, OO, Gedit, etc. I don't want all the stuff that comes in the normal image from Ubuntu.com. Anyone know where to get it? And when I say minimal, I am only referring to the applications, not the drivers and such. It would extremely handy to have a very large variety of drivers in fact, and not very many programs. Thanks in advance!

That's hardly a "MINIMAL" CD with OO etc (hardly a basic application).

There is a true minimal CD at only 10MB, which downloads all packages from the online repository, and only if you ask it to.

See the Ubuntu+LXDE link if you are interested.
