Hi I have been experimenting with a bunch of distros for my laptop and so far I have found debian is good, but I'm not liking it very much. I have tried openSUSE but the live CD hangs.

Dell Latitude CPx J series
128 MB of RAM
I think 6 MB video card
10 GB Hard Drive
CD Drive

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!:D
Prefer Gnome but am open to KDE and Xfce
and yes I have tried puppy linux and do not like it at all

Probably Puppy or DSL. I would put some more RAM in there as well.

Lots of great advice in this thread: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=575456

My personal recommendations for your computer are Puppy or DSL. Understand that your options are very limited with a computer that old. For example, I would not recommend Gnome or KDE at all. :)
