I really don't know how much power I should have, what mother board, what CPU power.

I want to be able to hook up to cable, maybe sat, and feed to TV and record. I believe the record is handled.

Have you checked this (http://www.mythbuntu.org/requirements) place?

Tllts (The Linux Link Tech Show) just did a whole month dedicated to Mythbuntu. Perhaps these programs can be of help.

The Myth page on what you need seems a little ambivolent, probably to encourage people, but it is somewhat helpful.

Tllts - never heard of it before, am listening now. Seems very helpful to me. I will haveto a lot of studying to understand all that they are saying (educationsl).

I have never done anything with youtube either. Will check that too.

My job on the ranch ended the end of Feb (the boss up and died on me last summer). The wife and I bought a little place in the big city (county seat Pop - 500) and have DSL here as opposed to the 4.4Kb/sec download speed from the modem at the ranch. Things like youtube do not work well over a modem and looking at the download from Tilts, it would not do well either.

There are advantages to living in town but I don't like it. I need something to keep me from going really goofy. This seems like a good thing to do.

I don't really watch TV but Karen does. I can play with this stuff and she can watch it.

Thanks a bunch for these links. If there are more out there I will look at them all.

With the big money that ag workers get it will take me a while to do this and I don't want to go too cheap as that is always costly in the end.

There is a ongoing thread about Mythbuntu at tllts .

Feel free to ask for help there too.
