Afternoon,
Just visted the central library in Birmingham town centre this morning, and found out they have installed quite a few new PC's.
Each new one is running Suse (Dont know which version), running Gnome desktop and includes Open Office.
I didn't get a chance to use them but thought that you might be interested to know that linux is starting to make some kind of impact in the non-IT area.
Linky for more info. Birmingham Local Gov Website - Opensource PC's (http://www.birmingham.gov.uk/GenerateContent?CONTENT_ITEM_ID=67487&CONTENT_ITEM_TYPE=0&MENU_ID=260)
and the company that is actually providing the systems Open Source Academy (http://www.opensourceacademy.gov.uk/)
According to the webpage this trial is hopefully a precursor to Open Source / Linux being used in more government offices.
Thanks for reading.
