Hey everyone,

I installed Linux Ubuntu 8.04 on my old crappy computer. I just want to see how things work before installing them onto a new laptop. I'd rather not screw up that laptop haha.

Now for my first problem, I'm sure you will be hearing from me some more.

When I start my computer it goes through the first processes then right before it loads into the desktop my monitor goes black and says "Input Not Supported" but after about 30 seconds it continues on to the desktop? I was just wondering if that is a huge thing to worry about? or should I just let it be?

Thanks,

Adam Leslie

When it actually starts up, does anything seem to be problematic?

No not at all, it starts up nice. Just like any other computer.

Sounds like the monitor can't handle the resolution.
Can you lower the resolution?.
Which video card and driver are you using?.

Um, to be honest, its such an old computer that the video card is basically a no name. Like it works fine when it loads to the desktop, this problem is only when it's loading.

Well, it may be fine...if you think it looks good when you're running the LiveCD, it should function similarly when you install it...
