problem installing ati x1300

hi!, i'm new with linux .. this is my first time trying linux, i installed it in my laptop, and the only driver who i can't install is the ati driver, somebody can help me?

i have installed ubuntu 8.10, and the video card is a ati mobility radeon x1300

edit: i have found the file installer-9.2x86.x86_64.run .. but i don't now how to install it
