I did notice that there is info about the Tor network in this forum but none of them that I've seen are for Ubuntu 8.10 / Intrepid Ibex

if you really want your firefox to work with tor .. then why don't you download and install the firefox addon called torbutton or there might be some other addons available as well that make firefox work with tor..
hope that helps..

Try this:

Use synaptic to install wine and its dependencies.

Download OperaTor! :

http://archetwist.com/opera/operator

Once you have downloaded the file, unpack it.

Navigate to the unpacked folder, right click operator.exe, properties, set to open with Wine.

Double click operator.exe and you should be surfing!

I much prefer Opera to Firefox, too. Please try it :)
