You can look at the top of this mac forum to find a link to download a powerpc version of the live disk. You should probably have 512Mb of ram. My Ibook came with 256Mb. I installed 1Gb more and have s system that is plenty fast. You probably won't like having just 256Mb even on Xubuntu. You can burn the live disk in disk utility on mac osx.
When you get a disk burned come back to the forum if you have any trouble booting it. I think the latest you can get on Xubuntu is 8.04.

I kinda think I broke my laptop, i went the guide ledled poster(thanks for this) and everything seemed to go fine, i got to stage 16,
# As soon as the OS loads, open the Terminal application from the Ubuntu Menu. You will edit the bootloader (yaboot.conf) file so that you won’t have to perform the VIDEO FIX step every time you boot Ubuntu.
But soon as I opened the terminal application it just closed now the laptop wont even boot up, I press the power button hear it turn on a couple of seconds later I hear it turn back off.
Any sggestions?

Can you boot from the 8.04 live disk? On my G4 Ibook I have to press the tab key to get the option list to finish booting. I believe the one that works for me is linux video-nosplash-powerpc. I have to type that in and then press enter to get the disk to boot. If you can get the disk to boot you should be able to install again and not do anything afterword to have Ubuntu boot.
