Hello all,

Firmware related questions:

1)I'm running Debian on my old iMac: How do I check the version number of the current firmware?

2)Is there any benefit to MY LINUX EXPERIENCE (being able to run OS X aside) by installing the latest firmware?

3)How can I 'install' the latest firmware on my iMac under linux/with a linux boot disk util etc? Or do I NEED a OS 9.*.*?

Thanks

Possibly, it depends on what the update is... If it fixes how the power controller works or something, then yes...

I don't know for sure on this, but I am fairly positive that you cannot update the firmware without running the original OS.

Did you find a way to update the firmware, noriek?

I have a G3 iMac (tray-loader, 333Mhz) that is running Xubuntu. I'd like to possibly install a larger/faster drive, but do not have the OS 8 or 9 install disks to re-install and verify/upgrade the firmware...
