Anyone has a clue about why the volume and brightness buttons don't work in my VAIO laptop???

I am using Ubuntu and Windows, and in Windows the work perfectly.

Thanks :D

Go to System >> Preferences >> Keyboard
Select the layout tab
Select the keyboard model window and look for your keyboard.
Select your vendor and model if they are there.

If you cannot find your keyboard
Use Synaptic to install Keytouch and Keytouch editor.
Use these tools to configure the keys on the keyboard.

I think the additional information was included with the Keytouch installation.

What did not work? I gave you 2 options. I am not sure what you have tried.

Just reset your global shortcuts. I donno how to do that in GNOME, but on KDE that's what happens on both of my laptops when i install a new distro. I just reset the global shortcuts, add proper functions to the keys and it works out just perfectly for me.

I answered your duplicate post here (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1097021), but I will also post my reply here in case anyone is following or comes across this thread and wants to know what the answer is.

Vaio owners with nVidia graphics cards who are having trouble with screen brightness in Intrepid should look here: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1004568
