Running ELGG with LAMP

Im am setting up a LAMP server to run ELGG, and was wondering does anyone have any tips for doing so?

I know I need the basics Apache MySQL and PHP, but is there any configuration I need to do with the three of them?

I've installed and configured elgg in ubuntu without any issues. Follow the instructions posted in the elgg home site and you should be able to get it done. Keep in mind that you need to be somewhat familiar with Apache and MySQL.
