Thunar windows close instantly

I know, another question. But anyho, I recently installed Xubuntu 8.10, and it runs fine, EXCEPT for the fact that every Thunar (file manager) window I open, closes straight away, and I can't do anything about it. I can open anything else fine (e.g. games) but I can't do much without the file manager, and I don't fancy using 'ls' and 'cp -rf' too often. Help please?

have you tried launching it from terminal to see the error?

try this>
in terminal:
mv ~/.config/Thunar ~/.config/Thunar.old

can you be more detailed, what did you try?

use synaptic to reinstall Thunar.

I'll try, but i'm reinstalling onto a new(er) 20gb hard drive, and that will take a few hours. thanks!
