MacBook Pro (1,1), sound input jack not recognized

Hi,

I have an MBP(1,1), running Kubuntu Intrepid. I can't seem to get the sound input jack to work. The internal mic works fine. In AlsaMixer (and in KMix, the settings are the same) I did these settings:

Master: 100%
Front: 100%
PCM: 100%
Capture: 100%
Capture1: 100%
Mux: 100%
Mux1: 100%
Input Source: Line
Input Source 1: Line

but I just get silence.
setting Input Source to Mic turns on the internal mic OK.

Try launching volume control by right clicking on the speaker on the toolbar. if you get an error about gstreamer, change kernels.

hmmm ... nope, it just opens the KMix window.
