Give exact details of which model and screen you have.

I had a Dell 5000e which used a bizarre resolution screen, which did something similar.

I just installed and then edited resolution manually.

I am using an Inspiron E1505 and did not encounter this problem. Is it possible that the CD did not burn correctly?

its a dell inspirion 1545 .. 15.4" screen ..
and the cd is proper.. tried it in another HP laptop n is working fine..
and one more thing.. i cant make out anything on the screen. so installing is not at all possible until this problem is solved..

The exact graphic card you're using?

Which version of Ubuntu are you trying?
