I don't have an iBook, but my 8.04 server boots without ethernet connection. Does your machine hang?

No but it causes all kinds of problems, and really slows everything down. I know how to turn it off after boot but I was hoping I could simple add a command somewhere or comment some line in a file so it would not boot at all but still have access to it if needed. Should be the same for ppc and ... non ppc :P if you know something that works for you let me know and ill try it.
