Hello, I'm not yet a Master Guru Coder by any stretch, but I've been reading tutorials on Blender, and having wanted to create my own game project, I've decided to share a few aims and see if anyone's interested in helping:)
I'd first like to come up with a graphical interface, as well as start working on different character designs. This seems like an arduous task to me having only just begun reading manuals for Blender, so even any helps on tutorials people found particularly helpful or nice, please share. :)
Character development is going to entail quite a bit, as well as storyline and plot, but I have an idea of doing Elder Scrolls meets Star Wars in an epic about religion and politics spreading throughout the Universe (with my own unique idea of what an advanced society really is or would be under different conditions of course ;-) )
I'd like to find someone who could also help with webpage design and creating a wiki for the game. This would help mould the project into shape as the team develops and progresses.

Many thanks for your helps and interest

On the website bit, if you want a free and pretty website, i recommend grabbing a wordpress account. Its free and easy to use. A blog would let you give news updates on the game in a quick and easy way.

i suggest you take a look at Yo Frankie (http://www.yofrankie.org/) project... there is free content there... you can get a good picture of how games are made using blender...

start by making new levels and characters to yo frankie... if you find yourself being good at it, you can try tackle the game engine :)

don't start from zero... you will never get further than the idea itself... you need to learn from other open source projects and then move to your own

just my thoughts ;)

Completely agree.

I advice you to join existing projects and contribute to them first.
This way you will learn many new things about game development and it time be able to start your own project.

But for someone who only begins to read/view Blender tutorials is not the time to develop a game.

There are so many of them ...
It all depends on what games you like.
There are 3d shooters, RTS, TBS, RPG's ....
A good place to get news about FREE games in development is : http://freegamer.blogspot.com/
Great blog about free gaming news.

Then you also got sourceforge, most free gaming project have pages there :

yeah, i agree.... i put the yo frankie link here only because the game has already been developed and is ready for playing... but you can still practice your blender skills by making the levels and tweaking the characters... all the files are available for download
