hi, me again. i realized i may not have been clear enough earlier... i am trying to connect to xbox live by hooking an ethernet cable to my laptop from my xbox, I have seen other posts telling how to do it using code but i am an extreme newbie to ubuntu so any help would be very appreciated (especially if you could teach me how to do it through remote desktop)

Do you mean you are trying to configure your laptop as a wireless access point for your Xbox 360? If so there is an article on ubuntu.com about it Ubuntu Documentation > Community Documentation > WifiDocsWirelessAccessPoint - But it does seem easier to buy a wireless router unless you have this hardware laying around. Im not sure if thats what you are asking but i hope it helps
