View Full Version : [ubuntu] latest security patches broke my laptop :(

Hi guys,

I have a dual booting laptop with Vista/Ubuntu Hardy. A few minutes ago I had the "important security" updates installed, but unchecked the reccomended updates on the update manager.

Anyway, now a new kernel 2.6.24-23 has popped up and when I boot into it, everything goes either black, white or it just simply turns off. I have no problems logging into the earlier kernals 2.6.24-22 and 2.6.24-21 .

I would like to remove the one that broke (2.6.24-23), how do I do this safely?

Many thanks in advance.
