View Full Version : [ubuntu] evolution-no new mail notification in the panel

When I first started using Linux and Evolution, there was a new mail indicator in the top panel (next to the volume control icon) and that has disappeared. If I go to Preferences/Mail Preferences/General, I thought there would be a New Mail option there but there is not. I am running Version 2.22.3.1. This is only a minor annoyance but I would like to get that back if possible.

Hi,
It was the top panel--of your desktop? Not in evolution's?
If so...'right click' on an empty spot, of the panel...
'tick' Add To Panel...
I believe your looking for the 'notification area' ?

Hope this helps ~ ;)

Tried that. I got a solid vertical bar in that top panel but when new email arrived, nothing was there. Nice thought though :(

Hi beatricec,
This thread is a bit old now but just in case it is still outstanding try installing evolution mail notification (and dependent mail notification) packages from synaptic.
Then in evolution select edit|plugins and tick the mail notification box to activate it.
Hope this helps.

Regards
