Its a bit on the simple side think thats because its aimed mostly for younger people but very addictive. Get the crow bar out to pry your kids away from it lol.

I haven't played in some time now (almost a year I think).
The game has gotten to be a playground for script kiddies and not those who enjoy rpg's.
The server crashes were becoming a royal PITA and after I lost most my gear to the CET 19 crash. And jagex taking the whole "lost trades" excuse I have been pretty much not interested no more.
I had almost completed the free quests and would have got a paid membership after that. I won't bother now.
I'll check out AI's post and see if there is something good.
One of these days I'll pick up a copy of Neverwinter's Nights.

members never crash, someworlds are laggy but u change world and lag is gone. Mebers is much better and yes its being played alot by kids, it used to be the other way, more for old people and still there is alot old people.

The game has lost its appeal... its not even an rpg anymore... there is no roleplaying, just a bunch of scammers and kiddies. The game is focused more on competition and being the best than having a good time.

I wasn't referring to kids (as in children) but the imature hack/gamers that work to screw the system up for others, though some of them may be children, others just act like it.
I would have got a membership years ago but the often server crashes got to be too much, don't know how they intend to entice you if the free servers keep crashing.
Something happened a year ago and now the population has doubled, the servers can't keep up and more often they are full.
Nah, I'll be looking elsewhere.

Oh i've got such history with this game, it's been 4 years since i started playing it, i don't even remember my pw anymore. I'm still a part of a great clan(which evolved into a general group of people with a forum) and i made some great friends online through it, whom i'm still in touch with, but the game, it's corrupted, it always was, all the scandals and intrigue that's surrounded this mmorpg are just too much to put into words. Suffice to say a lot went down. I could write about 30 essays on this subject. I'll just say, i've actualy read a newspaper article about two boys 13, and 14 years old, who're addicted to rs, say stuff like "Ya i once went for like 8 hours straight".
To anyone new to this MMORPG: In 4 years i have never come across a person who didn't admit this game is addictive, it was addictive even back when it had 2d graphics(3d terrain but still). You might notice you can't realy speak many elementary words, like "cook". This is because JaGeX does try ever so hard to make this game suitable for all ages, by censoring any kind of misspellings of curse words. I have a friend who plays all sorts of mmorpg for the goal of leveling, he'd even use cheats, he does so in GTA, Deus Ex etc. If you like leveling a lot, runescape just might suit you, it'll be addictive though, the leveling.:D

Well its not the same a free server than a member server. Member server as far i remember they never crashed, and they keep adding more worlds so its very rare they are full except world 2 and 100 were all people go to buy/sell.
About the population its more than double in the last year just because they update the game every weak adding new features and stuff, i dont even have room in bank to keep all kind of armours they added latly.

Yes the banking system is a joke.
My brother who continues to play told me they added a PIN to your bank accounts now. And it never had enough space to store anything. When I last left I think there may have been one or two empty slots in my account. Everything else was tools to make things, which I liked doing in the game. But it wasn't fun anymore when there are at least twenty guys with rune picks at all the mines (I lost mine in the server crash, in a year I still haven't earned enough money to buy it back).

Runescape was my first MMORPG (if it counts as one). Spent many, many hours playing the game when I was younger. Not a big fan of the 3D update though...
