Double click on your sound icon and just go through everything and anything ticking all boxes and such. There is a good chance there is a hidden volume bar thats set to really low. This is the case on my laptop whenever I do a fresh install.

I'm not sure what i should be noticing.

Master is a bar meter with 00 at it's base ?

If you click preferences, and tick all the boxes there, especially stuff like PCM and Front. These are the 2 that affect me. I find that, after a fresh install, both PCM and Front are around the half way point.

It's like PCM is the volume of your sounds, Front is the volume of PCM and Master is the volume of PCM.
