Hi Guys

I'm trying to install the default Ubuntu desktop sound theme but I am having no luck whatsoever.

Looking at Markbuntu's excellent guidance everything is installed as should be- other than the Gnome sound gui which caused problems on my system.

My sound preferences are set up OK, at least I think so, with Pulse Audio and the Ubuntu default alerts/sound effects selected. The sounds play when I click on them- though they will not play at the appropriate juncture, or at all for that matter otherwise.

I've tried the Gnome default sound effects and experienced the same problem.

Well Guys

I've just upgraded to Jaunty and I now have the Ubuntu sound effects on the desktop!

Neil

P.S. It, that is Jaunty, seems quicker than 8.10, but it is only my subjective view.
