i'm running ubuntu 8.10 on my acer aspire, and i was very excited to have my wireless working because i couldn't get it with 8.04...it had been running great for a few months, till last night my sister was playing around and thought it would be a good idea to unplug my computer and take the battery out because she thought it had froze. and now no wireless networks show up in my network manager. i removed the backport modules, reboooted, reinstalled them, rebooted and nothing.
=(
any suggestions?
here's the output from a few commands:

all i had to do last time to get my wireless working was install the file linux-backports-modules-intrepid-generic then reboot and it worked! now i don't know what's wrong...i've looked at other forums and threads, but they all lead me to dead ends...any suggestions?

i fixed it myself!!! woohoo! here's what i did, in case someone else has te same problem:
i disabled hardware driver that said support for 5xxx series of atheros wireless LAN cards.
then i unistalled the backport modules
then i rebooted.
then i reinstalled the backport modules, and reactivated the the hardware.
rebooted
and BAM!
i got my wireless back.
=)
