Even though my hardware is old and processing speed and memory is slow/small, I was told that the problem I have could be fixed if I reconfigure Java properly. But I do not know how I could configure it for the use of Runescape.

My problem:
After a reboot I can play Runescape for 2-3 hours long. After that Runescape makes it to where programs like Gaim and rythmbox not respond, unless i kill off Runescape and reboot again.

What I was told the solution would be:
Reconfiguring it so that I wont have that problem.

And last but not least, my system stats:
Motherboard: Gateway
Processor: Pentium II, 400mhz
RAM: 3 PC100 128mb sticks totaling to 384mb of RAM
Harddrives:
master: 20GB
slave: 2GB
Videocard: Diamond Viper II z2000 with 32mb of VRAM
Soundcard: Soundblaster PCI 64

Another thing to keep in mind is that the only fan I have is the one on my power supply, and its not too useful in keeping it cool.

Since I wouldnt know how to reconfigure java to not do the whole "kill off other programs", I would be greatful if any of you knew.

I'd really like to beable to play Runescape more then 1-3 hours without any problems, as I never had much problems with this using MSjava for win98.

Thanks much~

To add to this additional information, i am having problems with java period taking up more RAM then it should (on low detail RS it takes up 60% CPU load and 314.xMBs of RAM and when i tested it out on the java website (the verify installation) it took up 256mb of ram.

So the biggest problem is memory leak.
