Us Linux users don't have to worry about it. :guitar:

At the moment, it installs a proxy server called tinyproxy.exe and a service called Security Accounts Manager that loads the proxy server at startup...
Ubuntu isn't going to run an .exe file.

For sure. Exactly one of the benefits of Linux, isn't it?

And what does this topic has to do with ubuntu/ubuntu forums/linux, etc...

Things like this happen all the time...

Yes, this happened on my Windows computer through Myspace.
Luckily, now I run Linux, this virus won't affect us.

What happens all the time?

Windows people getting a virus?

Linux people not getting the virus?

People warning about a virus?

Maybe interstellaryeller didn't realize that is won't do damage to Linux, but at least s/he was willing to share some news, and quite possibly learned from it. (I read your signature)

Thank you interstellaryeller, your intentions were/are perfect. But in this case we are OK.

Have a nice day.
Bruce

Ahhh...social engineering at it's best. Of course most people who use computers (regardless of OS) have no care or concept of security or safe online practices or whatever. They just blindly do whatever they feel like and it is up to IT professionals (like many/most on these boards) to bail them out and/or fix their mess. YAY!!! More money for me!!!

Woo Hoo! All my systems at home are Linux so I'm safe?!! That's good news because my wife might fall for something like this.

Oh, I should warn my brother...

Thanks for the heads up, but I delete anything in my inbox that is not from someone I know.
