Hello:

I'm facing a peculiar problem on my laptop. Whenever I use dhcp with my eth0 (ethernet cable) I get the proper dns address from dhclient and it is written to /etc/resolv.conf.

# Dynamic resolv.conf(5) file for glibc resolver(3) generated by resolvconf(8)
# DO NOT EDIT THIS FILE BY HAND -- YOUR CHANGES WILL BE OVERWRITTEN
nameserver 192.168.2.1

After a while it gets overwritten, I don't know how and it now looks like this. (Note missing nameserver line)

# Dynamic resolv.conf(5) file for glibc resolver(3) generated by resolvconf(8)
# DO NOT EDIT THIS FILE BY HAND -- YOUR CHANGES WILL BE OVERWRITTEN

I have not done anything with the machine in the meantime. If I copy the original file the network works again. I'd be glad to hear any suggestions.

Cheers,
Aravind.

I had to completely uninstall the network manager for it to stop "helping me" by resetting this all the time.

I've searched for a better way, but if I'm not mistaken, the developers somehow see this as a feature.
