Hi,

I am trying to reduce the sensitivity of the touchpad on my Compaq CQ50-106 CA. I have just installed Ubuntu 8.10 (never used Linux before yesterday), and have managed to get through all the driver recognition, etc.

I have read through other threads on this topic. I do not want to disable the ability to click by tapping, I use that. I have installed and reinstalled gsynaptics. However, no ability to modify sensitivity appears in system>preferences>mouse>touchpad. Also, no new entries regarding the touchpad have appeared in my /etc/X11/xorg.conf file, as I expected would happen based on instructions posted in other threads on this subject. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

RG
