Hi, I have yet to start building my HTPC. I (of course) will be using MythTV. One thing that has kept me stalled is the usage of a remote control system.
I already have a Logitech Remote H659 that I use to control most of my system: tv, stereo, cable box, etc. It would be great if I could use this for my MythTV setup. Ultimately I'd like to stick my PC in the closet somewhere, where it will be unheard, and out of the way. However this presents a problem where the remote will probably need an extender, or some such device, to allow my Harmony remote to be used.
I was thinking of using the IRA-3 receiver from Home Electronics. This allows me to run an RJ45 cable from it to a serial connection on the PC. With this, I could tuck the PC anywhere in the house, in the attic or basement If I wish.
The Home Electronics (http://www.home-electro.com/) website says that it is LIRC compatible, but I've read how alot of people have had issues with its configuration.
Can anyone tell me that they've had success with this? Or possibly someone can offer another recommendation that works similar?
Thanks for helping out,
z
