I'm running mythbuntu and outputting to my HDTV. Its native resolution is 1680x1050 and when I watch some SDTV resolution avi files in mplayer or xine, or vlc (720x480 or 512x384), I get major distortions in the form of horizontal lines that appear over areas of motion which is really annoying.
Here's the baffling part: these distortions are only present when I'm using Xfce/mythbuntu. The videos look just fine if I boot the same machine into Intrepid using Gnome. Can anyone think of a setting that would fix this?
