I saw that XFCE 4.6 was released today. Is there a method of updating to the new version or will it be part of the updates?

Thanks for your help

XFCE 4.6 RC1 is in Jaunty. I am pretty sure it will show there first and then find its way into Intrepid and Hardy.

You can always use the manual installers from XFCE.org.

IIRC, there was a dev doing a PPA for XFCE 4.6 Beta, but it may not be as updated as what is in Jaunty.

Xfce 4.6 will make it into Xubuntu 9.04 (Jaunty). It might be backported to 8.10 (Intrepid) in the xubuntu-dev PPA (https://launchpad.net/~xubuntu-dev/+archive/ppa), and won't be packported to 8.04 (Hardy) unless someone else will pick up that task.

I'd recommend you to upgrade to 9.04 when it arrives in April.

It seems like it would be the wisest to wait until 9.04. Thanks for the replies.
