Hi I am a noob. I am using intrepid.

I am look for an EASY way to share my internet connection. I obtain service from Sprint on a usb Aircard 595u. I would like to connect my wireless router to eth0 via automatic dhcp. I would then like my router to broadcast the connection to other users. I am looking for easy here.

btw my router is a linksys wrvs4400n though I do not believe that matters. I have read that I can use Firestarter but when I try it says eth0 is not ready. Please keep in mind that I am truly an end user. :-)

if you disable DHCP server in firestarter and use manual static ip then you can avoid the eth0 not ready error..
if you dont want to go the firestarter way , you can do it this way as well http://www.prash-babu.com/2009/02/internet-connection-sharing-in-ubuntu.html

Ok I took your advice. It did not work. I have also taken everyone else's advice online and they did not work. <<--frustrated exaggeration.

Ok this is the last try.

I need a SIMPLE (as in as little steps as possible) and Easy (as in for an idiot) way to share an Internet connection between two Ubuntu laptops.

1. I obtain Internet access through ppp to be exact an aircard 595u
2. I have two laptops with operating wifi cards and Ethernet cards.
3. I have one linksys wireless router.
4. I have a plethora of cat 5e cables.

I don't care how they connect to each other I just want them to both be able to browse the Internet. And I want it to be simple. Imagine you are talking to a small child :-)

A list of what I tried:
1. http://ubuntuforums.org/archive/index.php/t-335465.html
2. http://bigbrovar.wordpress.com/2008/12/18/how-to-share-your-internet-connection-on-ubuntu/
3. http://www.prash-babu.com/2009/02/internet-connection-sharing-in-ubuntu.html
4. and 3 more sites that unfortunately when I search for them now I cant find.
and non worked for me

Please keep in mind that I am that "end user" that Ubuntu and the open-source community has been courting for years. When I use the terminal I am usually cutting and pasting without much regard to "learning" why.
I do not say that to be rude it is just the truth.

Whatever help that is given is appreciated and I thank you in advance.

I have solved the problem with a different distro. Thanx anyway.
