I'm sure this question has been asked hundreds of times before, but here I go.

I recently installed Ubuntu on my Vista laptop using wubi, so I am a Ubuntu newbie. I love the interface, but I cannot seem to download and install the Flash Player plugin for Firefox. I have tried what seems like every combination of downloaded files and terminal commands to no avail. Do any of you have advice/help for installing this plugin?

Instructions here:

I used the .tar.gz file and instructions and it installed ok.

Thanks a lot. That was much simpler than all the explanations I was finding elsewhere online.

Okay, now flash player is working but I am having problems with Opera's widgets. Whenever I try to launch a widget, all I get is a black box (I have tried several different widgets). Does anybody know what is going wrong?
