Hi everybody. It's time to make a presentation of me. Just a short one, so c'mon, read read read! :o)
I'm a guy called Fredrik and living in Sweden. Too bad the usernames Freddy and Freddie was busy. I'm soon eighteen and recently started to explore the world of Linux. I've always been interested in computers in general and I'm also a ham. (Transmitting with radios and stuff, you know).
A friend of mine got me interested in Ubuntu Linux for a couple of months ago. I installed it and found out that my wireless device wasn't supported. So I uninstalled it and went back to my great Windows again.
Since a month ago or something like that I installed Ubuntu once again on another old damn computer which was just gathering dust. At this time I was a big loser on Linux, didn't knew a ****, you know. I suceeded to configure SSH and now I'm controlling the computer with it.
Since I started with Linux I have improved my knowledge alot, not alot, but the basic commands atleast. And I think I'm in love with Linux! It's just that awsome and great! Thanks to all the developers behind Linux.
I will probably post some question-threads in the future. Thanks for taking your time to read. Catch ya up later! ;)

I personaly *hate* Linux, but I'm just here to "blend in".
Well, back to hacking, I guess.

no worries... I feel the same too... I'm from Ecuador (as you may see in my info box)... I kinda felt the same at first...
Since I was a kid, I was into PC, electronics, and all that comes with it... so I was ever wondering why does software cost too much? is there an alternative to what I see always on every single PC??? so I ran into Linux (I'm talking when I was like 11 or so, Internet here was a damn expensive and only a few were the ones who had Dial-Up connections, CAble and such were projects on God's mind, lol)... but by that time ('96) Linux was still command-line and very, very, VERY hard... so I gave up... kept to Windows (and crashing it every day)... time went by, and began University... there was a subject called Operating Systems... I LOVED THAT SUBJECT! there I learned a bit more from Linux and as a final project we were all asigned to present a distro that its not commonly known (SUSE, RED HAT, MANDRIVA and so)... so I went to Google and searched for "free Linux download" and ran into distrowatch.com... there I saw an uncommon name... Ubuntu... I said "Oh, what the hell..." so I clicked on the official site link... "OH! there are torrents and full ISO for download! OH! it's free!! OHH! 3 architect support!" so I downloaded a torrent and began to download the whole distro (5.04 warty), installed it on a HD I had wandering around... at first, I found it difficult to work around... but then I began to practice everything I learnt on class and found ubuntuguide.org... it all went great until I found that something in my life was missing... GAMES! The Sims (original Sims), Diablo II, and so on... so I went back to Windows... damn... I missed having complete control over the OS... then I heard about Dual-Boot, and gave it a try... it all went great... Breezy came (thru mail) and I upgraded... a few weeks back I went back to check things on Windows... well... Windows dropped dead... I'm backing up info now for cleaning that side of the disk and completely move to Linux... I love it? can't live without tweaking or hacking something...

Jag kör många system, favoriter är ju då OpenBSD och Slackware men ju mer jag kör Ubuntu, desto mer uppskattar jag det, det känns jäkla fräsht.
Detsamma, och gott nytt, inte långt kvar. :D

The first thing I do after I wake up is to switch my laptop on - to see the pretty face - of Ubuntu! The last thing I do in my day is to kiss my sweetie goodnight - ubuntu! I'm with it all day, all nights - it's taken over my sleep, hunger and everything else! This is true love! I love Ubuntu! :)

I run a lot of systems, my favourites being OpenBSD and Slackware but the more i run Ubuntu, the more i appreciate it, it feels damn fresh.
Same to you and Happy new year, not long to go now.

I have installed Ubuntu 5.10 on a redundant PC - just to get a feel for it, It took me an hour or 2 and a few different distro's to arrive with Ubuntu, I played around with it and decided to setup another PC on the Network, Working fine and getting braver by the hour.... Rock On LINUX!! much better than Windoze...

It isn't Linux I am love with, it's Ubuntu. No other Linux distro has the community support and information available that Ubuntu does, without which, I would still be using... other options.
