As someone pretty new to linux not that im clueless i could use some help. Where can i find cool games for download that will run on ubuntu. For that matter are there any sites that just offer software i can download. I can only download games from my windows computer so i must write them to cd. Is there any way to get wine without downloading it from ubuntu? any sites would be appriciated.

Check my sig for games ;)
It gonna be a hassle if you don't have internet connection for you ubuntu, well...especially when wine needs to download a bunch of win stuff to work.

You won't find FEAR in any repo as it is a commercial game and not available for Linux as far as I know.
It may run with WINE check here: http://appdb.winehq.org/ when the site is back up.
There also several guides around the Gaming and Leisure section about installing popular titles in WINE.

You may want to enable the universe/multiverse repos for more software titles and games: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Repositories/Ubuntu

Also you can check the numerous Linux gaming sites for suggestions and new releases:
