So I'm considering buying a 24" iMac cause im a IT major and I need to be familiar with the mac platform. I want to know if Ubuntu is compatible with this computer (specs below) since it would be a deal breaker for me if I couldn't run Linux.

iMac 24-inch: http://store.apple.com/us_smb_78313/configure/MB325LL/A?mco=NzMyNjM0
2.8GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
4GB 800MHz DDR2 SDRAM - 2x2GB
320GB Serial ATA Drive
ATI Radeon HD 2600 PRO w/256MB GDDR3

I think really on the ATI card could possibly be a problem since they dont have the best track record with linux. Researching this on google was not real conclusive.

Unfortunately, there is not a whole lot of specific information on iMacs, but my iMac5,1 works great. Any new Mac will be a bit different from mine though. The biggest issue I have seen with some users of the Aluminum iMacs is that fact that the installer boots up to a blank screen. Likely because the display is not being detected correctly. This might work fine in Jaunty, I don't know.
