So if youve read this little testimonial in my question thread(s) in the begginner talk section, feel free to move on...
I was getting pretty fed up with M$ about, oh its three weeks ago now methinks. i was having troubles reinstalling XP even though i'd done it a thousand times before, which made the problems even more frustrating. i was crusin www.pimprig.com (http://www.pimprig.com) and asked around about what distro would be good for a linux no0b like myself. I got a lot of votes for Ubuntu, so i dove in head first. no live cds here, no sir. i just refomatted and hoped for the best. My first praise is for the install process. So easy! so quick! loved it, and took half as long as a windows install. second praise: how many devices ubuntu just "knew" how to run. internet just worked, with windows i needed my mobo drivers and such. as soon as i got online i joined up over here because i had a lot of unanswered questioned. i got a lot of good tips from you guys, and those plus the infinite wisdom of google.com, i have my pc running just how i like it. ive got dual displays running, (LOVE the workspace switcher!!) i can play any multimedia you can throw at me, i can print stuff, watch dvds, anything. i love it. runs fast and smooth, lots of fun, powerful apps i couldnt imagine being free for windows (the Gimp, Kino, etc) the immunity to most viruses is also a plus, but that is really not the reason i signed on. i like being different from the average windows no0b, and I've learned so much about operating systems and computers in general. being able to read config files and such and edit them in a text editor is really cool, but dangerous at the same time  (ive messed up my xorg.conf several times trying to get my dual displays operational and booted into command prompt only) I've become a believer in all things linux, and have made 10 copies of the ubuntu install iso to distribute to friends and fellow nerds. Thanks for all your help, and thank you ubuntu staff for creating such as superb product!! :D
