View Full Version : [ubuntu] How to get a visible avatar to msn 9 users?

Ok, I don't know if I should post this here, but I am absolute beginner in this.

I recently got emesene to work, it's a charm. I can change avatar depending on the music that I am currently listening, it has last.fm integration etc.

Problem is, I noticed some people are not able to see my msn avatar (changing with music or not). Can this problem be somehow connected with the new msn version from Microsoft? If so, is there any MSN client for Ubuntu out there that won't give this problem? (Tried Pidgin already).

Thank you very much in advance.

Tricky question, i think emesene is using an older msn protocol thats compatible so why certain users are unable to see your DP is beyond me. did you ask what client they're using? some clients will only show the DP if a conversation has initiated.

They use msn 9. Initializing the conversation or not, the avatar is not visible to them. People with MSN 8.5 and below can still see it. I was looking for a way to bypass this (aka a client that supports the new msn protocol?).

Jaunty's pidgin should contain the fix for this problem.
