Hi,

I just thought I'd drop in and call your attention to something that's been bugging me for some time: the articles about open source games on Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_open_source_games). At first glance, it seems like a decent list of notable open source games, but it has its problems. The various game articles simply aren't of particularly high quality. Most of them are rather short and have some kind of problem (often not enough sources/citations). I think we should do something to improve these articles if we can, before some of them get deleted or merged. I have plenty more to say on the subject but I'll leave it at that for now.

In the meantime, what do you guys say? What do these articles need?

There's of course the LibreGameWiki (http://libregamewiki.org), which focuses on such stuff.

There are hardly any people who would consult Wikipedia if they want information about FOSS games imho.

Yes, I was aware of the LibreGameWiki before I posted this. It is a nice place and I have nothing but praise for the whole network of Free Gamer sites, but I think you're seriously underestimating the popularity of Wikipedia. Google the names of various open source games (I did "Nexuis", "Wesnoth", and "Warsow") and there's the Wikipedia page, almost always on the first page of results. So clearly someone's reading them. My concern is that they're not as good as they could be.

Okay, you've got a point there :)

As a start, we have a nice list (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alphabetical_list_of_open_source_games) to begin with :)

The problem is finding citations for open source games is they usually have none that are considered "reliable" by Wikipedia's guidelines. With commercial games, finding these reliable sources is no problem.
