View Full Version : Making CD/DVD repository

Well, you might think this is an odd thing to do, but it would be rather helpfull if I could do something like this. What I am saying here is I that I have a task to install some packages and updates on someone else's Ubuntu machine, but proud owner of it doesn't have access to internet, so I must just burn all the packages to some DVD or CD, and bring them...
Is there some way I could burn those packages (well, I know, I could burn it with some burning software ;) ) and to tell Synaptic menager to search that CD/DVD/whatever as it was repository (so I needn't to worry about dependancies and all that stuff myself).
Well, I haven't tried anything yet, but I will, and if I succeed, I'll report it here... Anyway, I will accept your advices, that's why I opened this topic after all. ;)

thanx fot the help, will also try it... it will help me to set up my next system, just like this one... which is how i want it..

all the stuff i dpkg installed... would probably not be on the repo cd? sad but probably true.

Thanx for the link, it is going to be great to have the DVD's when there is no internet connection!
