Help!!!!!!!Nube

I am having problems trying to get my Nvidia FX GeForce 5200 video card to work. When I load 8.10 it installs the program and when it finish, I removed the disc and reboot. When the monitor come up, it shows this message "OVERSIZE" 1280x1024, then it goes blank. Can't revive the monitor in any way, can someone take my by the hand snd instruct me how to solve this problem. SPecs on system, P4 Asrock MB, 2.66 MHz processor, 1 GB memory, with a Kogi 17" LCD, system is dual boot with 8.10 and WinXP.

PROBLEM SOLVED WITH CRT MONITOR.

Clean install of 8.10, rebooted when finished and allowed ubuntu to choose my undates. Once they were finished, I rebooted. When the desktop came up I went to System/Administration/Hardware Drivers and allowed it to pick the necessary driver (96 & 173), I used 173. I then activated it and rebooted again. Whala, video working only with a CRT monitor. System still boot up with a black screen when I use my Kogi LCD Monitor. So If anyone find a cure for this, Leave me a fix for it.
