I've been using intrepid now for a while, and would like to use a Samsung 931BW LCD.
My first problem is that the FN+F7 to switch between laptop display and external or both doesn't work within Ubuntu. I did work when I used the live CD, however.
The next hurdle is that I can't get the GUI screen resolution tool to recognise the two displays and set the resolution and refresh for each.
In the xorg.conf file I can add monitors and screens and enter the res and sync and refresh and all that, but those changes don't appear as options in the GUI tool when restarting x, and the modifications to xorg.conf are often replaced with the standard "Configured Screen" and "Configured Monitor" result of a dexconf reset, plus another xorg.conf file with date.
Any ideas on how to get the system to recognise my two displays and let me use the GUI screen res tool for what it's meant for, or is my system old and crap and I shouldn't whine that Ubuntu won't let me do all these things??
