Hello all, I'm trying out Ubuntu again and I'm having trouble with the ATI drivers. I've tried installing them from the repository, from EnvyNG, and from ATI directly, but whenever I install the driver on the next boot I get errors that no display is available, or that Xserver couldn't find the PCI device.

I don't have the computer with me unfortunately, but I will post the xorg.conf and any errors when I get home.

Does anyone know what's going on? I'm on 8.10 and ATI's 9.1 or the older driver from the repository.

System:
Core2Quad 4.0GHz
8GB PC1066
4TB HD
ATI Radeon 4870
ATI Radeon 3650
OCZ 700w PSU

Could it be because I run a 4 monitor setup with 2 cards? Banging my head against the wall on this one, and I'm pretty Linux rusty atm. Thanks for any insight you can offer!

Nothing? Anyone know where to go to get help with Ubuntu?

Look on the forum for the ATI HD 3650, chances are you are experiencing the same problem conflicts. The VESA driver works, but all other free or proprietary drivers seem to fail. I know I am not much help, I am still very new to Ubuntu, but I have the same card.
