So...I'm am about to buy Call of Duty 2 and I am wondering if there is a way that I would be able to play it on Ubuntu without paying. I would rather not have to boot up windows every time I want to play, so any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Walla

No. Currently, you can't even play it in Ubuntu if you do pay. Cedega doesn't quite have the copy protection that COD2 (and several other games) uses down yet, but they're saying that that's their current big project, so hopefully soon they will. As far as to pay or not to pay, cedega is cheap, and they do good (and quick!) work, so it is nice to support them.

If I can play it in ubuntu with cedega, maybe ill consider paying. But its just that I dont play that many games so it may or may not be worth it.

Well, its something like $5 a month if that makes it more or less worth it to you (you don't actually have to keep paying to keep using it though - their pricing plan is a little weird).
As far as COD2 goes, keep your eye on this page:

They post notices there when they release new versions, along with what new games work in each version.

Yes. Quake 4 will run in linux. You just buy the normal windows version of Quake from wherever and download the linux installer from the id website. I'm playing the Quake 4 demo right now and it runs great.
(I'm running AMD Athlon 3000+, GeForce FX 5600 256MB, and 512 DDR)

I don't know how much Linux experience you have, but if you're new, one thing to keep in mind is that to play most games in Linux, natively or with Cedega, you will have to have 3d acceleration up and running. To do that, you almost have to have an ATI or nVidia video card (though there are some others that will work). Have a search of the forums for instructions on how to check to see whether you have 3d acceleration going, and if not, how to install better drivers.
