hi im kinnda new to ubuntu, but anyways im am using the latest version of ubuntu (8.10) on my dell latitude D531 and i have it duel booted, that may have not been very relevent to what im asking though, im looking to make a shell script to make a random (chuck norris) fact genorator( by the way, excuse me for spelling errors, im a terrible speller) i want it to read off facts i put in to a vim file like i am taking a class on ubuntu so i know how to do very basic things so if anyone could help me, ohh and this is just for a side project like extra credit also iwan to hook my computer up on a projector and show everyone this just for laughs on breaks.

if anyone could help me on this project it would be greatly appreciated

Look into fortune and its associated files, that's the easiest way to do things. First howto I found (
http://www.jason.mock.ws/wordpress/2007/07/10/creating-fortune-files) on how to create your own fortune files.

Should be noted there's already a Chuck Norris Facts fortune file out there. :) I'll leave searching for it if you want it up to you.

well i know of furtune but i am a newb to this stuff so i dont know how to do that and if i found the chuck norris fact genorator i wouldent know how to put it on my computer

Download http://www.k-lug.org/~kessler/chucknorris.tar.gz
Extract the files to /usr/share/games/fortune/
Run
fortune chucknorris in terminal
