Hi,
it is the first time I log into the forum and I'm italian, my english is bad (I know).
So, I have installed xubuntu 8.04 alternate on a ecs green 320 (processor via c3 samuel 2 1000 mhz, graphics card vt8623 (CL266 chipset). My screen is always back after starting the grub, I edit it erasing "quiet splash" and after "ro" adding "vga=771".
I execute the boot (b), and always I arrive at the login prompt. I login and at the $ I don't know what to do. I tried to edit the xorg.conf but it's always the same. I tried also to edit the menu.lst", nothing to do. And the result of startx is "fatal error, no screens found, and others error messages...
What I have to do to have a regular xubuntu desktop with icons, etc, ecc....? I'm desperate, because I tried to install unsuccesly:
xubuntu 6.01 (cd form the official mirror failed)
ubuntu 8.10 desktop, black screen
....
....
I have 288 MB RAM.
I tried with puppy linux 2.xx, perfect, usb wireless apart :-(
