I have googled and checked here, and found nothing helpful. Basically, I'm trying to install the latest update for WoW (BC), and it just refuses to install.

I start up wow, log in, it tells me I need to restart. I do this, it downloads the update and thats it. I try to log in and it tells me to do this again. It's quite frustrating!

I have tried deleting the patch .exe file. And it still does this. I have tried downloading the patch off of http://www.wowwiki.com/Patch_mirrors with no success.

Knowing my luck, there is probably a simple solution to this which I've missed. So please can someone help.

Thanks in advance.

Try running the repair.exe.

You`r using wine right? Is you`r version of Windows emulation Windows 98? It`s recommended for the safest and best patch installation...

It was set to emulate XP, so I just tried with 98, but it still doesn't work :(

Thanks for the help tho, and to the other poster

Do you have Wrath of the Lich King installed or just BC like you said?

I did a complete reformat and re-install of WoW this past week and I noticed that when I installed and patched Vanilla WoW, it seemed to include all the content and patches for BC too, cause I could jump straight from there to WotLK. You may perhaps want to try a complete reinstall if you are up to it. Back up your WTF folders and all of that first though...

Yeah i've just got BC installed. I was thinking of doin a fresh install of WoW, because it had no problems with updates when I first started it up.

Did you try getting updates with launcher.exe?

Thats another problem I have. My launcher.exe just produces an invisible box on my screen which im having to force quit.

So i'm just using a shortcut to WoW.exe set to opengl

I'm having the same problem, and the problem is, as stated above me, Wine-gecko.
I've tried reinstalling it several times in many different ways, but I cannot get it to work.
